Butte College Baseball Earns Prestigious ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

OROVILLE, Calif. – The Butte College baseball program has once again proven that excellence extends far beyond the diamond.

The Roadrunners have been named recipients of the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, recognizing programs across the country that have achieved a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.

Butte College was one of only seven California community colleges to receive the national distinction, placing the Roadrunners among the state's elite junior college baseball programs for academic achievement.

"This award is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and character of our student-athletes and coaching staff," said Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics Rob Bishop. "We celebrate competitive success, but we are equally proud of the commitment our students make in the classroom. This recognition reflects the culture of excellence that Coach Anthony Ferro and his staff have built within our baseball program."

Presented annually by the American Baseball Coaches Association, the Team Academic Excellence Award honors programs that prioritize academic achievement while competing at a high level. The recognition reflects the collective efforts of student-athletes, coaches, faculty, counselors, and academic support staff who work together to ensure success both academically and athletically.

"This honor represents what we strive for every day as a program," said Head Coach Anthony Ferro. "Our players understand that wearing a Butte College uniform means pursuing excellence in every aspect of their lives. I'm incredibly proud of the work they've put in, both in the classroom and on the field."
