Butte hires Myriah Logan as their new Assistant Volleyball Coach
The volleyball program has announced the addition of Myriah Logan as a new Assistant Volleyball Coach with the Women's Volleyball Program at Butte College.
Head Coach Ed Jackson announced. "We're excited to welcome Myriah Logan as a new Assistant Volleyball Coach!" Coach Logan will assume a more involved role as Assistant Coach while Bailey Johnson will transition to an "as available" assistant due to Coach Johnson's recent graduation from Chico State and increase her workload." Jackson said.
"I'm very excited that Bailey wants to stay involved with the Roadrunner Family and happy for her recent success in achieving her college degree. Bailey will provide support with our external operations and statistical analysis while providing on-court coaching when free from her work related responsibilities" Coach Jackson continued.
Myriah brings over a decade of playing experience in both club and school teams throughout the Chico community and three years as a member of the UC Davis Women's Volleyball Collegiate Club Team. A UC Davis graduate with a degree in Economics and Chico High School graduate, Myriah was a member of the first Matrix Volleyball Club teams and recently returned to Matrix completing her first year coaching with the Club. Coach Logan stated "I am excited to be joining the program. I hope to bring insight from my experience and be an asset to the team. I am eager and grateful to be in a position to continue expanding my knowledge of the sport, while gaining and growing my coaching abilities".
Coach Logan's responsibilities will focus on the development of the pin attackers (Outside and Right Side Attackers) and guide the team's defensive efforts. Myriah has a strong connection with the volleyball community throughout the Butte County area and will assist Head Coach Ed Jackson in its recruiting strategy as the team's regional recruiting coordinator.
"Adding Myriah to our staff adds another successful role model for our student-athletes to learn from. With Coach Johnson and Whitlow graduating from the CSU System (Chico State) and Coach Logan a graduate from the UC System (UC Davis) we have a coaching staff that can provide our players insights into pursuing their transition to our two public university systems here in California" Coach Jackson said.
"Myriah has a great ability in observing our athletes in practice and can identify quick keys to success for our players. She's passionate in developing her coaching pedigree and has made an instant impact with our team. I've enjoyed working with Myriah in the short time we've worked together. She's been insightful in our team's growth and offers great perspectives when we are planning and reflecting with how we train the team." Jackson continued to say.
Logan, 25, lives in Chico. She enjoys competing in volleyball recreational adult leagues and tournaments. Myriah also engages in outdoor sports adventures, skiing, hiking, and paddleboarding among other pursuits.
