Roadrunners Take Series from Lassen

The Butte College Roadrunners won two of three games against the Lassen College Cougars over the weekend, highlighted by a late comeback in the opener and a walk-off win in extra innings to close the series.

Butte opened the set with an 8–7 win on March 6 after erupting for seven runs in the seventh inning. Trailing by two entering the frame, the Roadrunners loaded the bases before Jack Selfridge delivered a bases-clearing double to spark the rally. Tyler Porter followed with a two-run single and Jacob Klapper added a sacrifice fly to cap the inning. On the mound, Nate Simpton went 8.1 innings, and Nathan Brown recorded the final two outs for the save.

Lassen evened the series in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, defeating Butte 11–3. Tyler Porter provided the highlight for the Roadrunners with a home run in the fourth inning. Riley Pimentel added an RBI single in the seventh and Brady Alves drove in a run in the ninth.

The series finale proved to be the most dramatic of the weekend as Butte edged Lassen 8–7 in 11 innings. After falling behind early, Kolbey Stolpe gave the Roadrunners the lead with a three-run home run in the second inning. Butte added runs in the fifth on a Jacob Klapper two-run double and an RBI single by Cole Davis.

After Lassen tied the game late and pushed across a run in the top of the 11th, the Roadrunners answered in the bottom half. Klapper delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game, and a throwing error by the Lassen left fielder allowed Collin Severson to score the walk-off run.
