Butte College Roadrunners Volleyball - Week 5 Recap

The Roadrunners exhibit great starts in Week 5 action.

The Butte College Roadrunner volleyball team faced a challenging week, dropping two home matches in four sets. The team battled hard but ultimately fell to both the De Anza College Lions and the Lemoore College Golden Eagles with identical 3-1 scores.

Match 1: De Anza College Mountain Lions
In a home contest on Tuesday, September 16, the Roadrunners went head-to-head with the De Anza College Lions. Butte College started strong, securing the second set, but the Lions proved to be too much, taking the match with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-13, and 25-8. The Roadrunners fought to a win in the second set, showcasing their resilience, but were unable to maintain momentum in the subsequent sets.

Match 2: Lemoore College Golden Eagles
The following day, on Wednesday, September 17, the Roadrunners hosted the Lemoore College Golden Eagles. Similar to the previous match, Butte College won the first set, 25-14, but Lemoore College rallied to win the next three sets. The Golden Eagles' strong finish earned them the 3-1 victory with set scores of 14-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-18. The Roadrunners showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in the opening set, but couldn't close out the match.

The two losses bring the Roadrunners' overall record to 5-9 on the season. The team will look to bounce back in their next contests on September 24 at a quad match hosted by Solano College, where they will face off against Solano and Napa Valley.
